Commercial Design in Airports: Projects in Lanzarote
SSP renews its presence at César Manrique–Lanzarote Airport and FBarquitectura leads commercial design in airports with new architectural projects
SSP, a company specialized in Travel Retail, has just signed a new six-year contract with AENA. This agreement will allow it to continue managing and renovating several establishments at César Manrique–Lanzarote Airport. With this move, SSP strengthens its presence in one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Canary Islands and consolidates its position as a leading operator in airport food and beverage services.
Our architecture studio will be involved in the project, taking responsibility for the execution project, construction management, and project management. Thanks to this collaboration, an integrated and coordinated approach will be applied, focused on operational optimization and user experience. In this way, FBarquitectura brings its expertise in commercial design in airports, developing functional, contemporary spaces adapted to the demands of the airport environment.
Among the main highlights is the introduction of new brands, including Enrique Tomás, AMT Coffee, and Tropical Sin Filtros.
Additionally, a complete renovation of some existing establishments will be carried out. The Burger King restaurant will undergo a full refurbishment, which will include a larger kitchen and new self-service kiosks. The spaces of Upper Crust and Camden Food Co. will also be updated to better align with the current profile of international passengers.
Lanzarote Airport welcomed over 8.7 million passengers in 2024, confirming its key role in the connectivity and tourism development of the archipelago. Therefore, the new project represents an opportunity to enhance the quality of services offered. It is also an occasion to apply principles of efficiency, functionality, and comfort—through a specialized approach to commercial design in airports that integrates architecture, management, and operational strategy.
