FBARQUITECTURA carried out tthe elaboration of the Technical File, Master Plan and Project of the Terminal Area of the International Airport of Chiclayo – Peru. The objective is to turn Chiclayo into the air hub of northern Peru. With the goal of boosting trade and tourism. Expected to accommodate 2.6 million passengers by 2038.
The project includes the resurfacing of the main runway. It also contemplates the construction of a new terminal building, a control tower, hangars and a cargo terminal. In addition, a fuel area and a fire suppression system will be added.
Drawing inspiration from the Mochica culture:
- Building shapes reflect the form of Mochica masks.
- These pyramidal structures evoke the ancient pyramids of the region.
- The terminal roof is inspired by Mochica metallurgy techniques, famous for its gilded copper work.
Featuring a system of structural modulation. This facilitates future expansion without altering the original design. In addition, the project meets energy efficiency and sustainability standards. Exterior gardens are integrated to enhance natural ventilation and views.
The building covers 19,500 m². It is organized into two main bodies connected by a central area. Landscaped courtyards provide natural light and ventilation. The design facilitates passenger orientation so that key areas such as check-in, arrivals and the shopping plaza are easy to identify.
This project is an example of how modernity and tradition are integrated. Chiclayo International Airport – Peru will be a functional and emblematic space. It will contribute to the economic growth of Chiclayo and northern Peru.
