Functional and sustainable expansion: the creation of the Valencia Airport Terminal T2 building.
FBarquitectura carried out the Construction Project and Site Management of the Terminal T2 Valencia Airport.
In 2005, Valencia Airport underwent a significant transformation. The expansion of its facilities responded to the growing flow of domestic passengers. This expansion not only included the construction of Terminal 2, but also reflected a balanced approach.
A strategically located project
The plot for the terminal expansion was located to the east of T1. To the north, it connects to the departure roads and, to the south, to the remote apron. This facilitates the operational integration of T2, ensuring a seamless user experience.
Design in harmony with the environment
From the outset, the design was adapted to the topography and existing infrastructure. In this way, circulation within the airport was facilitated for both passengers and staff.
Adaptation, Aesthetics and Functionality
The design of the Terminal T2 Building also sought an aesthetic continuity that would resonate with the visual identity of Valencia Airport.
The building envelope sought a natural fluidity with steel and glass, creating a spacious environment at boarding and check-in. At the same time, it creates a harmonious transition between T1, the Regional Terminal and the new structure.
An environmental commitment in every detail of Valencia Airport Terminal T2
A highlight of this project was its environmental approach. Sustainability guidelines were followed, optimising energy and conserving native vegetation.
A future ready for growth
The T2 Terminal project responded to the immediate needs of the airport in 2005 and was designed to facilitate medium-term growth. It combined functionality, economy and commercial attractiveness to provide value and meet operational and service needs.
An architectural project of continuity and operability
With materials and solutions that respect the architectural style of the Regional Terminal, the T2 Terminal Building was conceived as a natural extension of the airport. Boarding areas, lobbies and accesses were integrated into a practical and visually coherent layout.
